Meet Ahmed Elmogamer, Husam Himmat, Najla, Sulayma Mohamed, and Sara ElSadik, creators of OddGuardian.
OddGuardian was born out of a personal connection and shared purpose among friends.
The team’s inspiration came from Ahmed’s sister who was diagnosed with Leukemia a decade ago. During her treatment, she felt isolated and lacked a means to find comfort and fun. Motivated by this, the team embarked on creating OddGuardian, a technology-driven plushie that aims to socially connect and bring comfort to sick children. The plushie allows children to interact with their family members and other hospitalized children, fostering a sense of companionship and support.
Since joining Residency @ The Clinic, the OddGuardian team has expanded, combining their diverse backgrounds in mechatronics, psychology, biomedical sciences, marketing, business strategy, and technology research. Residency @ The Clinic has provided connections with industry professionals, who have provided valuable guidance and support. The program has offered the team a safe space to develop OddGuardian, influencing its progress and enabling them to gather feedback on various aspects of its design and implementation.
This team is passionate about further developing OddGuardian. They hope to assist individuals in isolation, bridge the gap between patients and their loved ones, and foster a sense of togetherness through technology and their huggable companion.
