Innovation hub officially opened during the Heersinks’ visit to McMaster

A dedication and presentation was held on June 17, 2022, to officially open The Clinic at McMaster University.
The Clinic, a 3,000-square-foot innovation hub, was made possible by generous gifts from Michael G. DeGroote and Dr. Marnix and Mrs. Mary Heersink in partnership with the Faculty of Health Sciences.
The Heersinks were visiting the university last week and participated in the presentation. They were joined by Dr. Paul O’Byrne, dean and vice-president, Faculty of Health Sciences, and Dr. John Kelton, executive director, Michael G. DeGroote Initiative for Innovation in Healthcare, and other members of the Faculty.
The presentation included an unveiling of a dedication plaque and painting of The Clinic’s visionary, Dr. John Kelton. The portrait, hand painted by Mary Heersink, is a wonderful tribute to Dr. Kelton. Both the dedication plaque and the painting are beautiful reflections of the lifelong friendship between the Kelton and Heersink families, and the partnership with McMaster University.
