The Clinic Residency Pitch Competition
Deadline: Program-based
Eligibility: Residency participants and Clinic-supported venture teams
Prize: up to $2,500, feedback from expert judges, and continued venture support

McMaster Student Seed Fund – Entrepreneurship
Deadline: Annual, March
Eligibility: McMaster undergraduate and graduate students
Prize: $10,000 in seed funding to support early-stage ideas, prototypes, and venture exploration

The Forge Startup Survivor
Deadline: March 29, 2026
Eligibility: McMaster students with early-stage startup ideas
Prize: $5,000 for program, up to $15,000 for Pitch Competition. Mentorship, hands-on challenges, and exposure to McMaster’s startup ecosystem

McMaster Seed Fund
Deadline: Varies by competition cycle
Eligibility: McMaster faculty, staff, postdoctoral fellows, and graduate students
Prize: up to $250,000 in funding to advance research translation and early-stage venture development

McMaster Post-Doctoral Entrepreneurship Fellowship
Deadline: Annual, September
Eligibility: McMaster postdoctoral fellows interested in entrepreneurship
Prize: $75,000 Fellowship funding, mentorship, and entrepreneurship training to support venture creation

The Whelen Fellowship
Deadline: Annual, December
Eligibility: McMaster graduate students and postdoctoral fellows
Prize: up to $45,000 in Fellowship funding to support innovation, commercialization, and entrepreneurial leadership

Hamilton Health Sciences DRIVE SPARK
Deadline: April 17, 2026
Eligibility: Clinicians, researchers, staff, and learners affiliated with Hamilton Health Sciences
Prize: up to $50,000 seed funding, mentorship, commercialization support, and access to clinical partners

Innovation Factory Competitions & Challenges
Deadlines: Varies by program
Eligibility: Entrepreneurs and early-stage startups across sectors
Prize: Cash awards, incubation and acceleration support, mentorship, and investor exposure

Health Arena: Innovations in Oncology
Deadline: March 30, 2026
Eligibility: scientific research projects in the field of oncology that are led by a PI currently professionally affiliated to McGill University or Universite? de Montre?al and that are at a TRL ranging from 3 to 6.
Prize: up to $250,000

Idea to Innovation Grants – NSERC
Deadlines: March 30, 2026; June 22, 2026; September 21, 2026
Eligibility: College and university researchers developing and transferring promising technology with commercialization potential; some phases require an eligible partner company and institutional technology transfer support
Prize: Funding varies by phase, from $15,000 for market assessment up to $350,000 for Phase IIb projects

HEALTHI Program – Innovation Factory & CAN Health Network
Deadline: March 31, 2026, or until funds are fully committed
Eligibility: Canadian incorporated companies commercializing an innovative technology at TRL 6 or above, with a clear clinical application and interest in a clinical trial or collaborative hospital project
Prize: Up to $15,000 worth of services to support commercialization projects or clinical trial preparation, with access to research administration groups and clinical collaborators

Scale Up Canada – Toronto50
Deadline: March 31, 2026
Eligibility: Startups and scaleups based in the Greater Toronto Area; sector- and stage-agnostic, including both early-stage and more established companies
Prize: Strategic connections, investor and customer introductions, global visibility, and inclusion in the Toronto50 initiative

FirstOntario 1Awards
Deadline:

Eligibility: open 2+ years, <50 employees, have a home base in Hamilton, Halton, Brant, Niagara or surrounding areas
Prize: $32,500 cash and $167,500 in professional, in-kind services.

Red Bull Basement Pitch Competition

Eligibility: Anyone with an idea! Location: Hybrid (final pitch comp in Silicon Valley)
