Application Process
Domestic applications for the 2026/2027 academic year are open until March 14, 2026. (International applications closed on December 31, 2025.)
The MBI application process consists of two separate applications. Both applications must be completed to be considered. Please follow each step below:
1. MBI Program Application Program Application
Apply by completing the program application form. Submit all requested details and upload a detailed letter of interest and CV/resume for review.
2. Graduate Studies Application Graduate Studies Application
Formally submit your application, along with the $150 fee, via McMaster School of Graduate Studies. Look for Biomedical Innovation CRP (MBI) in the listing under Faculty of Health Sciences.
Admissions Criteria
Academic Requirements
- Completion of an undergraduate honours degree
- A minimum B+ average (75-79%) in the last two years of study of an honours degree
- Demonstration of English proficiency (written and oral) for international applicants
Non-Academic Requirements
- Written Personal Submission including Letter of Interest and up-to-date Resume/CV (3 pages max)
- Two (2) References – either professional or academic
Considerations
- If candidates fall short on degree requirements or work experience, they will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
- Demonstration of involvement in innovation and entrepreneurship projects are an asset.
Before Starting the Program
- Health Clearance (i.e., immunizations and N95 mask-fit)
- Vulnerable Sector Screening Check
